4 Days South Trip

I have welcomed 2008 by having one of the exciting trip to South India. We were 4 friends on the 4 day trip. We have covered arnd 1500 KM on the car in these 4 days. We started on 28th nite and our first destination was Madurai.Madurai is the second largest city in Tamil Nadu.Madurai was built by the Pandyan king Kulasekhara and was the capital city of the great Pandya kings of South India. Madurai's cultural heritage goes back 2500 years, and the city has been an important commercial center(Source - Wikipedia)...We reached Maduraion 29th afternoon. We found out some gud place to stay and took rest. After having lunch, we decided to explore the city.

Our reason of visiting it was Meenakshi Temple. One of South India's great temple towns, Madurai is synonymous with the celebrated Meenakshi Temple. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva (in the form of Sundareswarar or Beautiful Lord) and his consort, Goddess Parvati (in the form of Minakshi). The temple forms the heart and lifeline of Madurai.
The temple has a stunning architecture and a significant testimony for Vishwakarma Brahmins for their master architecture in sculpting this temple. This was a frontrunner in the election for the modern seven wonders of the world for its architectural importance.
After visting the temple, we roam around in the city. We planned to spend nite in Madurai and to start for Rameshwaram early morning....

GoodBye 2008

So one more year ended....a new year with new beginning... It seems just few hrs back I was in Kanyakumari to celebrate the beginning of 2008...Have made so many resolutions while coming back to Chennai from Kanyakumari. We four have gone to explore south India on four days trip and all the four have wished that they would not like to celebrate 2009 in Chennai. But...... we 2 are still in Chennai. Other 2 have managed to go to Banglore... Anyway no regret for staying in Chennai till there is a hope that Chennai will bring happiness in both of us' lives. If I look back and see my achievements...there is only 1-2 not more than that.....May be 2008 has set the ground for achievements that may happen in 2009......
I hope there will always be news of happiness and joy from all near and dear ones. The clouds of recession shed away at the earliest so that we can breath freely...
