Was thinking, must write about 2010 year. As this is the year which will never be forgotten in my life, this was the year in which so many things happened in my life which I have never thought of. I started new year (Ist jan 2010) having a dinner with my wife in a five star hotel of chennai. It seemed a wonderful and great start of the year.Rest nothing remarkable happened in Jan2010.
Feb 2010 : My in-laws visited us. 2 weeks were full of fun, frolic and enjoy. We went to visit lots of places in chennai. I got one award from my project account for clearing some exam.
March2010 : A great month. I come to know about my appraisal rating. Finally I got top rating so chances of getting promotion increased. In the mid march I went to our hometown. So enjoyed a lot at home. We husband-wife went to visit some temple with my mom and dad. That trip was really good. Most important thing also happened in march 2010 and that was I booked my first flat in gurgoan.
April 2010/May 2010/June 2010: I come to know about my promotion. Most awaited event of my life.My wife got job in an engineering college of Chennai. So it seemed as if now life is going to be smooth now although frustration was always there that we were very far away from our families. Always wanted to go to North India so that remain stay near to my dad as he was heart patient. My mom could have needed my help anytime. We went to Ooty a rememrable trip.
July 2010 - Got released from my project. We went to Kodaikannal. Another wonderful trip.
August 2010 - Another event happened or I say dream came true. My brother has gone to US in 1998 first time since then wanted to go to US. tried my luck in 2001. Got admission for MS in US but didnot get visa. Last year applied for H1 visa didnot get so it appeared as if there is some power which does want me to go to US. But in August 2010, I tried again to get visa adn this time I got my visa.In company also, I started getting projects for US. At the same time, some other activity started in my professional life and that was job interview in Accenture. We went to Yercaud, a nice place to visit.
Sep 2010 - The month which totally changed my life. The month which I always used to look for as my, bro-in- law and dad's b'days come and my wedding anniversary comes. But something happened in sept 2010 tht now I will never wait for this month. My visit to US almost got fixed and suddenly without any reason, it got cancelled making me upset. But later I come to know by some power made it cancelled. I finished all my interview rounds with Accenture. One day I got call from Accenture about the offer made to me. I made a call at my home to give another good news as finally another dream was coming true. My mom picked up the phone before I tell her this news, she told me tht dad is not keeping well. Then I had a talk with dad. It was never in my dad tht I was talking to him last time.It was my dad's b'day. Mom got dad hospitalised.for 2 days, keep on getting the news tht dad is fine. But suddenly on 20th sept night got a call from mom saying dad's condition has become severe. I just brust out planned to go home. midnight, booked the tickets and early morning of 21st sept, left for home town. But before, I reach home, dad has left me all alone in this world...................
Still many things happened in the rest months..will write later.. Not in the position to write now.............

from mobile

Finally my first blog from my mobile. My another wish has been fulfilled. Whenever I used to read samiran's blog written by him from his blackberry, I always dreamt of writing blogs from my mobile. And finally today I have got the immense pleasure of writing it from my nokia N-97. Really a nice phone, has all the features which I was looking for in a phone. Although iphone is also similar to it. But since its costly and more stylish, i can flaunt better :-)
Also the purchase of it has remained timely. I have been allocated a project and have to spend more than 1 hr in commuting one side. So to do timepass its the better source. I think its enough now to praise about it. I stop here no more flaunting.

Bhangra - 2

Another video of Bhangra from different angle :)
Click on Bhangra - 2 to view the video

Bhangra

Click on Bhangra to see the performance

Comfortable Zone

I always wonder why we feel that past was better than present. Why not we think future will be better? One of the reason I feel is that we do not want to come out of our comfortable zone. Sometimes we feel that whatever is going on, let it be as it is. We want change but don't go for change because we become habitual of the life the way we are leading.I didn't take the project in Bangalore, because I felt I am comfortable in Chennai.Rather the reason was I didn't want to come out of my comfortable zone.Just to validate my laziness, I thought I will take up flat near beach in Chennai which will not be available in Bangalore. The result neither I got the project nor I took the flat near beach. If I was to stay away from beach, I could have gone to Bangalore and could have fund the better. But nope, want to stay in the comfortable zone.Anyway have to come out of my laziness.Have to leave the comfortable zone. My room mate feels that he and his friends are normal and since I dont behave like him, so I am abnormal. Am I seriously abnormal? It may bring joy and happiness in my friend's and my life. Really happiness came in our lives. My friend got married last month while he was working in chennai only. Only thing is now he has also moved to Gurgaon I think. No news abt him yet. I also got engaged while staying in chennai.I feel only thing was with the house in which earlier I was staying. In that house I never felt any happiness only heard sad news even about my roomies. As soon as I shifted to this house, I felt freshness and seems my life has changed little bit..I dont know if I am superstitious or these things really matters.

IT sector

Really a strange life exist in IT sector. Here every day is a new day. Not to talk abt life, here you can’t even plan your day. Few month back, I was happy that in this recession period, I am having a project for a year at least. Suddenly, one day I got the news that the client has decided not to continue with the project on which I was working. But then there was a ray of hope that client is considering some other model where we will be required. I went on vacations with this hope that my future is in safe hands. But the first day of my vacations, I was emailed that my name had been removed from the team which is going to work with the project team. So have to come back to my consulting group. In this recession time, sitting idly doing some internal work seemed not favorable. Then one of the client came and asked for my and other colleagues CV for their requirement. There were lots of rays of hope. 2 rounds of interview and I was not selected. Other colleague was selected. The team who was selected for my earlier client has also come back. Client found no work for them also. So lots of people w/o project around. But we have found the ways to keep us busy may be doing certification, may be working on internal projects or may be having more fun activities. Now I have realized, life outside the projects can also be enjoyable provided the sword of billing does not hang on your neck J

3rd email

Hi Everyone,

I read somewhere "Every once in a while, a wish comes wrapped in absolute belief and conviction. When that happens, nothing can stop it from coming true.

And we had the privilege to witness it happening right here. Wish for a TT Tournament has developed long back but could not be materialized. Finally the way it happened now in such a short notice, is really really remarkable. Everyone has come out as a winner in this tournament. I am quite sure this tradition will be carried on in the years to come.

Anyway future ka baad mein dekha jeyega !!!!! Let’s talk about y'day - One more page of excitement, josh, fun was added on the last day of tournament.

The day started with the exciting match of womens doubles final between Gayathri/Jenny and Kalindi/Priyanka. Really Gayathri/Jenny strategized very well against Priyanka’s serve and their strategy paid them the title of womens doubles. Need to mention here, it was Jenny’s second medal of the tournament.

After womens doubles final, we had two semifinals. One in mens doubles and one in mixed doubles. In mens doubles Anupam/Sharath faced Ram/Kumar, but Ram’s brilliant form and Kumar’s luck finally helped them to snail into the final. In mixed doubles, Ram/Gayathri played against Vijay/Bhagya, but Bhagya’s good shots could not get them a place in finals L. Vijay/Bhagya better luck next time J.

In the Final of mixed doubles, Gayathri/ Ram faced Jenny/Kumar. The match ended in a nail biting 5 setter match and finally won by Gayathri/ Ram. Awesome team coordination between Ram and Gayathri.

Then came the Tournament ka baap , the much awaited showdown between Soumya and Anupam, the mens singles finalists. To add to the excitement and thrill this match was made 7 set. Brilliance of skill and sportsmanship spirit was displayed by both the finalists. It was an edge of the seat experience for the audience who cherished every moment of it which culminated to a 4-1 win giving us our mens singles Champion “Soumya”.

Tournament ended with the mens doubles final between Ram/Kumar vs Vijay / Abhishek. As expected this match was also full of thrill and excitement and continued till last set. Winners were Ram/Kumar J. Ram won his second gold medal.

Hard work of Ram, Shishir and Kunal, has really paid well across the tournament. But there was something missing in the whole tournament. Had the organizers arranged snacks/juices for the spectators, also for players as well, it would have added flavor to the tournament. (Hello!!!! Some organizer reading it). Although Juice bar vendor was happy that his revenue increased in these 3 days and requested that we should have tournaments daily at such a large scale. Some of the exciting moments were captured by Shishir, have a look in the attached pics.

Anyway, excitement can’t be ended here……Our Jungle battle will be continuing from next week and to make it more enjoyable and fun, we look forward more ideas, suggestions, feedback.

“When we are dreaming alone it is only a dream. When we are dreaming with others, it is the beginning of reality.”

- Dom Helder Camara

2nd email

Hi Everyone,

What a day Yesterday!!!!!!!! It appears mercury is going to break all records in chennai…..

2nd day started with the clash for women singles title between Jenny & Bhagya. As expected this match continued till 5 sets with 2 tie breakers. Till the last minute no body was in the position to say who will take away the title of women singles. But finally Bhagya won the title.

On first day Soumya and Ronak were the stars in the men’s matches, but y’day was Ram’s day. He won easily his mixed doubles as well as mens doubles. Now Ram with his partner Kumar will have semis with Sharath /Anupam. We already have the other semi finalists Vijay/Abhishek who defetaed Ronak/Rahul in QF. So, is Ram back in form??? Will he continue his winning streak ??? Anupam defeated Kumar in singles, so will Kumar take revenge for his defeat in doubles???? Come and watch in SDB3 cafeteria today…

Soumya may have lost his mixed doubles as well as mens doubles but he easily sailed into the singles final by defeating Ronak in semis. His opponent will be Anupam in the final who had to sweat really really hard against Kumar to win the semifinal. Match between Anupam and Kumar has been the longest match of the tournament so far. Sorry Kumar, best of luck in other matches. So who will be under more pressure --- Anupam or Soumya? Who will be our Champion in singles?

In womens section, Priyanka was really a surprise package. The way she served really perplexed Ram in mixed doubles.Today Priyanka with her partner Kalindi will be playing against Jenny/Gayathri in womens doubles final. So will Priyanka's service confuse the opponents or have Gayathri/Jenny found the solution to defend Priyanka's serve? Will be exciting to see their match!!!!!!

In another exciting match, Ram/Gayathri will face-off against Vijay/Bhagya for a place in the mixed doubles final. Winning team has to play against a strong team of Kumar/Jenny who have already reached the final by defeating Kalindi/Kunal.

Excitement does not end here…..Organizing team has informed that Josh, Fun will continue tomorrow…. …We will have exhibition matches.. Who will play ??????-----Keep guessing!!!!!!!! May be Pradeep, Sreejit , Shishir, Zoozoo or someone else…!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TT Tournament in office

I got the chance to cover up the TT tournaments held in my office....got lots of praise.. Here is first email which I wrote......

Have you recently felt the temperature raise in Chennai? WHY?? HOW??? Arrey !!!!! the CBCi TT Tournament has geared up in SDB3 Cafeteria…….

Most of us saw a very exciting opening day of TT match yesterday and today seems to be a more exciting day… Just to give you some glimpse of the TT matches….

·The limelight is on our own Raj who is going to play his singles Quarter Finals against Kumar today

·Second Major and exciting thing will be to see if Soumya can capture the singles title. Yesterday Soumya won his match against one of the tournament favorites Ram after a grueling 40 minute encounter with the points table reading 23-25 (yes, it’s a 11 point match, but this set went with about 12 deuces!), 11-5 and 11-9. So what say, should Ram get a Wild card entry ???????

·We already have 2 of the semifinalists identified.

o First, Ronak reached the semifinal by upsetting Amer and Manish. Ronak has to play his semifinal against the winner of Soumya-Vijay Quarter final. It will be interesting to see if Ronak can create another upset and reach the final.

o Anupam sailed into the semifinal as expected and the battle between Raj and Kumar will decide his opponent. Hope the appraisals have no effect on these matches ;)

The excitement does not end here…….

·In Men’s doubles again Ram will be opposite to Soumya.. So Can Ram with his partner Kumar defeat Soumya/Manish pair or will Soumya repeat the history and will show that he is unbeatable? So for how long this match will continue..GOD knows!!!!

·In Mixed Doubles…no points for guessing the luck of the draw. It is Soumya Vs Ram again. Add that to the heat!!! Soumya has teamed up with Priyanka who is playing her first TT match while Ram has teamed up with the most experienced female TT player Gayathri, who was the runner-up in the Insurance TT tournament. I am quite sure it is going to be a nail biting match.

Don’t worry.. if you still feel Yeah Dil mange MORE MORE……..We are going to have Women Singles Final match Between Jenny and Bhagya….. Jenny has defeated our experienced player Gayathri in the semis. So will Jenny be able to continue her winning streak or Bhagya who is debuting her TT career will put the brakes on Jenny’s winning streak?????

I am quite sure you can’t miss the EXCITEMENT …… Be there……

4 Days South Trip

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_dKKR3QYfOCM/SV0N8vz6JPI/AAAAAAAAAAU/7k93JPsRWO0/s320/29122007(004).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5286396874880328946" />
I have welcomed 2008 by having one of the exciting trip to South India. We were 4 friends on the 4 day trip. We have covered arnd 1500 KM on the car in these 4 days. We started on 28th nite and our first destination was Madurai.Madurai is the second largest city in Tamil Nadu.Madurai was built by the Pandyan king Kulasekhara and was the capital city of the great Pandya kings of South India. Madurai's cultural heritage goes back 2500 years, and the city has been an important commercial center(Source - Wikipedia)...We reached Maduraion 29th afternoon. We found out some gud place to stay and took rest. After having lunch, we decided to explore the city.

Our reason of visiting it was Meenakshi Temple. One of South India's great temple towns, Madurai is synonymous with the celebrated Meenakshi Temple. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva (in the form of Sundareswarar or Beautiful Lord) and his consort, Goddess Parvati (in the form of Minakshi). The temple forms the heart and lifeline of Madurai.
The temple has a stunning architecture and a significant testimony for Vishwakarma Brahmins for their master architecture in sculpting this temple. This was a frontrunner in the election for the modern seven wonders of the world for its architectural importance.
After visting the temple, we roam around in the city. We planned to spend nite in Madurai and to start for Rameshwaram early morning....

GoodBye 2008

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_dKKR3QYfOCM/SV0HQZ9LJnI/AAAAAAAAAAM/pHzcnwd8ESw/s320/prodotto_92_21.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5286389516029601394" />
So one more year ended....a new year with new beginning... It seems just few hrs back I was in Kanyakumari to celebrate the beginning of 2008...Have made so many resolutions while coming back to Chennai from Kanyakumari. We four have gone to explore south India on four days trip and all the four have wished that they would not like to celebrate 2009 in Chennai. But...... we 2 are still in Chennai. Other 2 have managed to go to Banglore... Anyway no regret for staying in Chennai till there is a hope that Chennai will bring happiness in both of us' lives. If I look back and see my achievements...there is only 1-2 not more than that.....May be 2008 has set the ground for achievements that may happen in 2009......
I hope there will always be news of happiness and joy from all near and dear ones. Since I have written my last blog, I m finding a lot of change in my behaviour, personality.Major change came when I read the book "How to stop worrying and Smart living" by Dale Carnegie. After reading this book I have really stopped worrying and I generally used to get irritated from small things, which I have stopped. I will say one must read this book.
I have always remain a helping nature guy and besides that I have always expected that whom I helping will help me in future when I will be needing. But this generally never happened and lead to frustration. Now I have learnt that "It is natural for people to forget to be greatful;so, if we go around expecting gratitude, we are headed straight for a lot of heartaches. If we want to find happiness, let's stop thinking about gratitude or ingratitude and give for the inner joy of giving"..... This is a big lesson I have learnt in MBA..

Easy & Difficult

EASY & DIFFICULT
Easy is to judge the mistakes of others
Difficult is to recognize our own mistakes
Easy is to talk without thinking
Difficult is to refrain the tongue
Easy is to hurt someone who loves us.
Difficult is to heal the wound...
Easy is to forgive others
Difficult is to ask for forgiveness
Easy is to set rules.
Difficult is to follow them...
Easy is to dream every night .
Difficult is to fight for a dream...
Easy is to show victory.
Difficult is to assume defeat with dignity...
Easy is to admire a full moon.
Difficult to see the other side...
Easy is to stumble with a stone.
Difficult is to get up...
Easy is to enjoy life every day.
Difficult to give its real value...
Easy is to promise something to someone.
Difficult is to fulfill that promise...
Easy is to say we love.
Difficult is to show it every day...
Easy is to criticize others.
Difficult is to improve oneself...
Easy is to make mistakes.
Difficult is to learn from them...
Easy is to weep for a lost love.
Difficult is to take care of it so not to lose it.
Easy is to think about improving.
Difficult is to stop thinking it and put it into action...
Easy is to think bad of others
Difficult is to give them the benefit of the doubt...
Easy is to receive
Difficult is to give
Easy to read this
Difficult to follow
Easy is keep the friendship with words
Difficult is to keep it with meanings

Thoughts

1. For better or worse, success is often determined by you and you alone. Successful guys have certain personality traits in common. Here are some of the characteristics of successful money makers that can help you rise to the top.

1. Be realistic
A successful man is a realist, which means that he's never going to shoot himself in the foot by being negative, but he's not going to take risks based on unsupported conclusions.Consider Bill Gates. When he left Harvard to develop his vision at Microsoft, he took a huge risk. He knew what the rest of us would later learn: personal computers would be the wave of the future if only software could be more user-friendly. You don't have to be as far thinking as Bill Gates, but you should learn something from his decision making.

2. Be a man of action
The best ideas in the world are worthless if they're not put into action. But action can be a double-edged sword because action for the sake of action can easily become reckless. The mindset that separates the men from the boys in this department is being uncomfortable with inaction. In other words, a successful guy will never sit around waiting for something to happen. He may not invest any money in a given year, but he'll always be looking and exploring.

3. Capitalise on your passion/knowledge
If you don't love it, it's nearly impossible to get others to love it. By focusing on something that you're passionate about, you'll give yourself extra resources that can't be quantified. Any financial undertaking is going to be hard and you're going to have to put in extra work that you couldn't have predicted. That's where the passionate man has an edge. When you're working on your passion, you don't mind the extra work. In fact, if you're really on the right track, it won't seem like work at all.

4. Have outer confidence
Confidence is key to almost anything in life, whether you're running a business, selling a product, or trying to finance your idea. If you don't project confidence, you won't get very far. But it's more than just being confident that matters. Confidence allows you to surround yourself with quality people, who will push you and who you can in turn push to greater and greater heights. In other words, confidence is the building block that allows you to make the whole greater than the sum of its parts.

5. Check your feelings at the door
It's not personal; it's business. Those are words to live by, but too many guys fail because they take it personally. An investor may say no, but that doesn't mean he doesn't like you; come back to him later with another proposal. A friend might tell you that your idea stinks; rather than get defensive, find out why he thinks your idea stinks. And never let the criticism get you down. The more success you have, the more criticism will be thrown in your direction.

College Days

Today some one send one very beautiful poem, which reminded me of my engineering days..

(Click on the pic, to get full image)

4 days to go

Today is tuesday.....and going home on friday night for diwali vacation of one week. Me and my group mates choose to work with Blind People's Association. Yesterday we all went to visit the place. It was really a great experience. Under BPA, many workshops are run for disabled people to make them self sufficient. We saw these people weaving clothes, working in carpentery workshop, printing press workshop, electric workshop. Even these guys learn computer. BPA is really putting great efforts to help the society.

Blind People’s Association (BPA) is one of the largest organization in Asia working for all types of disabilities throughout India as well as abroad. Apart from Education they provide training, employment and placement, on the job training programmes, study centers, special education on disability. They are running a Physiotherapy school for the Blind and this is one and only one school in whole of the Asia. They have started many new centers for the disabled people in Gujarat, Eye hospital in Bareja and a Limb Fitting & Physiotherapy Center in Bhuj. BPA is providing consultancy to disability development organizations in Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal But need is to make awareness among localites. So we decided to prepare presentations for the BPA so that they can use it. Moreover we decided to redesign their annual report. I found these tips very much relevant and applicable in today's scenario when attrition rate is increasing day by day.(Source: www.economictimes.com)

Think carefully
Don't rush into a new career field because you are dissatisfied or disillusioned with your current job, boss or company. Opt for careers that suit both your skill sets and interests and don't be disheartened at the pace of your progress because career shifts take time.

Additional training
Consider the possibility that you might need additional training or education for acquiring the skills needed for your new career field.

Start slowly
Start slowly; use your personal and professional resources to collect information on all aspects of the new field. Ideally you could join an organisation on a voluntary or part-time basis to gain knowledge in the new field while continuing to work in your previous job.

Utilise network
Take advantage of all your networking potential, including using your current network of contacts, conducting informational interviews with key employers in your new career field, and interacting with the employees in informal sessions

Find a good mentor
Changing careers is challenging, and you really need someone who can motivate you and keep you focused on your goal when you get discouraged. Find a good mentor.

Job hunting
Brush up on all aspects of job-hunting. Take advantage of all career change resources-- you could post your resume in websites, send them to some good agencies, etc.

Be flexible
Above all else, be flexible. You’re basically starting your career anew, which means you may have to make concessions about job titles, salary, relocation, etc.
Don't worry if you feel a bit insecure or unsure about making a career change; these feelings are normal.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Book review: How to Act Like a CEO

Hi,

Just finshed "How to Act Like a CEO" book. I have always intended to do something for the well being of the society. So the beginning is with "ARPAN"..........................................

It was not known to me that my intentions will be fullfilled so soon. When I came here, I thought of to join some NGO in ahmedabad and work with it on Sundays. I got the contact numbers of some NGO.But something else was stored in destiny. Circumstances were such, I could not make a call to NGO for a month. And then I met Darmen Surana, my senior, regarding this Blog. In chatting only he gave me the idea of founding NGO in NIRMA itself rather then going outside...That was the beginning. One of the first doubt in mind was about the response from the classmates. But when we floated the email on intranet, it was a positive response. Many students appreciated our initiative and show willingness to get attached with it..

That was the first hurdel we passed. We have thought of beginning small. Hence, we have planned to teach English and Computer Skills to all the guards and sweepers in our campus. This is just the first step for us to begin small as well assuccessfully.

And what heights our bud "ARPAN" can touch, is all dependent upon the effort of our as well as our subsequent batches.

3 years work ex.........

I passed out of engineering college with lots of dreams. But all dreams got shattered when Tata Infotech ltd. keep on postponing the joining because of software slump. After six months wait, I got the interview call from JK White Cement Works. and just before the interview day, I got the rejection letter from Tata Infotech ltd. But it was my capabilities and self confidence that I got the job in JK White Cement Works, Gotan (Rajasthan). I spent one year there. It was really a great experience of doing job in a factory. My boss was a nice person. He tried his best to make me a good engineer and I learnt a lot under his guidance.

After spending some time in JK White cement works, I started to look for some better job, as my job was repetitive. After one year, I got the chance for appearing in an interview for Assistant Manager – Process in Associated Cement Cos. (ACC) and I was selected for the post. It was a good breakthrough for me. I worked for more than two years in ACC. I met many people with whom I worked as subordinate, as peer and as senior. While working in ACC, my initiative and team skills got developed. I got chance to work under many senior managers, each having different kind of personality. But lot of learning took place..From every one I gained a lot..many of them motivated me for higher studies and because of them I am doing MBA today. I also got the chance to interact with the international clients, which was a good opportunity to understand the persons of different countries. But of course some negative aspects were also there...which I think I need not to dicuss today. Will write about that later some time.

It was not typical work culture in my office....We used to have lots of parties there....especially farewell parties..... Lots of masti and fun..which I really miss in B-school. The last party I attended was my farewell party. It was too good.

I have very sweet memories of my job experience..

Parables

Talent night

Talent night was the first cultural event organised in our college. It was a good show. All arrangements were done by first year students. Some people were in elation and some were sad. Reason was auditions held before the final day. Many persons were eliminated in the auditions. I dont know why it was done. Every body should have been given the chance to show their talent in front of the college. Only those who can peform better, were allowed in the show. I feel it was such a platform where the person who lacks the talent even they should be asked to perform. Anyway, as it was the first experience to most of the organizers, they performed their duties very well. Performers had really put a hard work and many of them stole the show. Bhangra and fashion show could not reach to the expectations. It was good that function ended with in time duration. It was followed by a dinner, which was quite good. After dinner, everyone enjoyed dance also.
Overall everyone had a great fun on that evening.

Its me!!!
